My birthday treat. Hilton Endless Saturday Afternoon High Tea @ D9 Cakery, Hilton Hotel, Orchard, Singapore.


I had an impromptu birthday treat at Hilton Endless Saturday Afternoon High Tea Buffet on my 34th birthday. Hubby kinda forgot my birthday and to be honest, as one gets older, birthday is not as excited as when we are a kid. 

Anyway, hubby woke up with a shock that today is THE DAY! He felt bad but I was pretty casual about it, I don't mind if we just spend some time with the kids like any other day.

Anyway, he wanted to go to Orchard to get me my birthday present and cake, at the same time had something to eat. Initially wanted to get some steak but I found out about the D9 Endless Afternoon Tea at Hilton. Prices are reasonable at $41 ++ for adult and $21++ for kids between 5 to 12 years old. Kids below 5 years old are complimentary. 

There are 2 seatings and only available on Saturday.

First seating: 12pm-2.30pm 
Second seating: 3pm-5pm

We kinda woke up at 12pm and by the time we got out of the house and make the booking, it is already 1.30pm. Hence, we book the 3-5pm seating. 

However, we reached around 2pm and are really hungry. The staff is very nice and let us start the buffet earlier, we also did finish and left earlier at 3.30pm :)

There is complimentary car park ticket that is available for diner so be sure to grab that as well when you make payment. 

Now, lets look at the selection of savoury items....

I love the Swiss Raclette Cheese and the fact that it is melted, scrap onto my selection of bread and torched using torch burner to make it even more tempting.

Coffee (black, white, cappuccino, latte, mocha), hot chocolate, milk, a selection of TWG tea, even some iced tea are all free flow and included in the buffet.

As for the sweets selection:
Macaroon
I actually enjoyed the macaroon a lot. I don't usually like macaroon as I find them overly sweet but the one served at the D9 Cakery Buffet is just nice in its sweetness and very yummy indeed.

There is a selection of cakes which I missed out in the photos- cheesecakes, matcha cake, rainbow cake, chestnut cake, and some chocolate which is also quite nice and good looking.

Kids love the chocolate fountain and the sweets which is available for dipping- marshmallow, gummy bear, strawberry, M&M, lollipops and round chocolate (orange and strawberry flavour)

Teppanyaki Ice Cream
Highlight will be this Teppanyaki Ice Cream where creamy chocolate is poured over the dry iced and stir fried like a teppanyaki. Nice to watch and nice to eat.

Overall, I would say this is highly recommended if you are looking for a place for afternoon tea on a Saturday. The ambience is very nice and located at the lobby area of Hilton hotel so you will definitely not missed this place. Selection is good with a fair selection of both sweets and savoury items so you still get your stomach filled and not overloaded with all the sweets stuff. All non-alcoholic drinks are included in the price and they do serve cold/warm water as well so no need to worry about additional charges for drinks. Prices are also very reasonable for Hilton standard.

Kidzoona indoor playground at Jusco Bukit Indah, Johor, Malaysia.

We recently brought the kids to Kizoona at Jusco Bukit Indah. I find it very worth it in terms of the price and the facilities are also pretty good.  The place is not big but there is enough things for the kids to spend a few hours there... Includes bouncing castle, some individual shops (flower shop, cafe, supermarket for kids to play around), a big pool of ball, some cars, and a huge rolling ball-like thing where kids can go in and rotate. Fully air conditioned and there is only one entrance to go in and out. Parents can stay inside to accompany your kids at no additional charge. Just remember to bring your own socks otherwise have to purchase before going in. Toilet is not in the playground so there only cons is have to bring the kids out to toilet. Tickets are for a whole day so unlimited entry throughout the day.  Kids can play, go our for lunch and then come back and play again.  If there is two of you looking after the kids , can take turn to go shop

Staycation @ Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Singapore

How often does one step foot in Changi Airport and not catching a flight or picking someone up? For those who are staying in the east of Singapore, some might just go to the airport and enjoy their facilities, had some food, play at the playground or even do some groceries shopping. I think I am a little outdated as I did not even know that Changi Airport has NTUC as well (and their prices are not more expensive that the rest of NTUC). However, for someone like me who stay in the West, I hardly step foot at Changi Airport unless I am flying off someone or picking up someone. Great for family/ friends bonding- KUKUP 2 day 1 night TRIP

Situated in Pontian District, Johor, Malaysia- KUKUP Fishing Village is a wonderful place for family/friends bonding.  The chalets are build on the sea and there is not much attractions around the area so basically most activities are done in or around the chalet which is great for bonding. There is no place to park the car in front of the chalet as all of the chalets are build on water, so do park your car (if you are driving) at the designated car park before the jetty. We parked at JJ Carpark (RM7 for 24 hours) and the staff send us to the jetty area using his van. We can then walk or take a boat to the chalet.  We decided to walk....and we manage to enjoyed a cooling and refreshing coconut pudding on the way... Winter in Perth 2014 (Day 1 and 2)

Chinese New Year Celebration in Dubai

This is our second year residing in Dubai and Chinese New Year is not a public holiday in the UAE. This year we decided to stay in Dubai as there is no school holiday that coincides with the Chinese New Year period. There is a few celebrations going on as there is quite a number of Chinese in UAE. There is lion dance competition at Dubai Park and Resort, lion/dragon dance parade at City Walk and some celebrations at Jumeirah Lake Towers. Many Chinese restaurants offer reunion dinner package (at a premium price of course) and some renowned hotels offer buffets with Chinese new year theme.  One week before the celebration, I started making some Chinese new year cookies/snacks to get into the mood. Travel tips to Perth in Winter

My first travel post will be sharing our family winter trip in Perth.  HOW LONG TO GO: Our trip is 2 weeks long as part of it is hubby's business trip, a trip of 5-7 days will be sufficient. For those planning for a trip this June School Holiday , Perth is actually quite a nice place to go. In contrary to normal believe that weather is bad in Australia in winter, we actually find it quite cooling and not too windy or rainy as long as you avoid Busselton and Margaret River area. Westgate Hotel Review (Ximending, Taipei, Taiwan)

We stayed in Westgate Hotel during our trip to Taipei in September 2015. Hotel is generally clean and comfortable. We opted for executive room but our only complain is there is only a really small window with no view at all. Hubby blamed the "lack of sunlight from window" causes us to wake up late everyday but I think we are just generally pretty good in sleeping. Room Room is a good size for Ximending standard. There is a queen size bed, shower, toilet, TV, and a separate living area on a platform. In room safe is provided for safekeeping of expensive items. Bed-queen size. Separate living area.. pretty cosy TV Sink Toilet with multiple cool function-heated seat etc Shower head has good water pressure but the space is quite small. I can't hang my clothes in the shower room as the water will splashes on my clothes. This is how small the shower room is... Rest 'N' Relax @ Desaru Tunamaya Resort & Spa (3 days 2 nights)

This year for the year end school holiday, after much consideration and pretty last minute, we decided to go for a rest and relax trip at Desaru. We got some credits in our Agoda account so after using up the credits, we pay about RM 100 per night for Desaru Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort (as the Lotus Desaru and Pulai Desire are both fully booked) http://www.desarutunamayaresort.com Packing is only done the night before the trip after we finalise and booked.  The essentials for beach holiday ---  * Swimsuits * Sunblock  * Slippers * Toys for playing sand * Casual T-shirt and Shorts We also brought along the kids scooter which they had fun playing :) After lunch at Mount Austin, we drove to Desaru and reach about 2pm. Winter in MELBOURNE 2016-Day 2

The next morning, everyone wakes up, feeling energised after a good rest. We had breakfast at home and got ready by 10.30am. Drinking water while sitting on his favourite exercise bike. Explore the backyard before leaving, otherwise will be all dark by the time we get back! First stop for today is the Koala Conservatory Centre. It is included in the 3 park passes we purchased yesterday.  Some fun facts of Southern Koalas So where is the koalas kiddo? "There! We spotted one" We spend about 1.5 hours here. There is some fun facts and exhibition at the centre (koalas diet, digestive system, population etc) and a broad walk/park which visitor can walk around, having fun spotting the koalas. Family Trip 2017 @ Cameron Highland, Malaysia (Day 2)

Today we will be on our way to Cameron Highland for a 4 days 3 nights stay.... After a good night sleep, we woke up at 9am and had breakfast in room. Kids ate bread while hubby and me had some instant noodles. We then showered and checked out at 11am.  Meanwhile, my parents and sister's family woke up earlier and started their journey around 7am from Johor.  Toy from a stop at highway, very happy I also bought some toy from Mr DIY yesterday night for the kids to colour during the trip. We drive up to Ipoh for dim sum as our lunch. Restaurant Foh San is very well known and been around for many years. They have renovated since the last time I visited.
