Family Trip 2017 @ Cameron Highland, Malaysia (Day 1)

This year for our yearly family trip, our destination is Cameron Highland. To avoid the rainy season in December, we decided to have our family trip in June instead.

We have planned for a four day three nights Cameron Highland trip. 

Hubby said it is very tiring to drive all the way up to Cameron Highland from JB, so we decided to drive to KL one day earlier, rest one night and then drive to Cameron Highland the following day.

We leave JB at around 12.30pm after lunch. On our way to KL, the kids nap and then after waking up from their one hour nap, we stopped by petrol station to feed our car (with petrol) and feed our stomach. Kids get to buy a mini toy/sweets at the petrol station.

Mummy and daddy got some drinks and ice cream from petrol station and it is time to hit the road again. 

We reached our hotel, Oasia Suites Kuala Lumpur  by Far East Hospitality at 4.15pm. After checking in, we went up to our room on 20th floor.

The room is quite value for money as there is 45% off when we booked. A studio suite with bedroom, living room and a small kitchenette equipped with microwave, fridge and washer/dryer cost us RM246 inclusive of service charge and tax.

After settled in, we changed into swimsuit and went to Level 24 swimming pool for a quick swim as we wanted to take the 6pm free shuttle bus to Berjaya Times Square.

There is no kids pool but the stairs are quite wide so the kids play around this area... the water is warm despite the hot weather which is great! We enjoyed the pool time...

Review of Oasia Suites Kuala Lumpur by Far East Hospitality

After a quick swim, we went back to the room to shower and took the hotel shuttle to Times Square, reach around 6.20pm. At the entrance, there are some traditional malay decoration (congkak, satay , old looking stalls etc). We wanted to dine at The Boat Noodle but it is very packed and the earliest we could eat is at 8pm so we went to Bar B Q Plaza instead.

We wanted to order one of their set and it is RM 76.90. For member its RM59.90. Member fees is RM 10 so still quite worth it, so we applied for member. We ordered some ala carte dish and get additional 10% off as member. Prices are inclusive of GST! Food are not bad and everyone is satisfied as we had quite an early lunch so everyone is famished.

After dinner, initially we wanted to play at the indoor playground but there is no option for individual rides and it is closing soon so not worth to buy the day pass. 

In the end, bought soft toy for kids instead and they love it so much! Got a Pinky Pie from My Little Pony (RM30) and Pikachiu (RM25). Kids are very happy and they say daddy and mummy can shop anywhere we like and they are willing to wait for us. So , we went to Uniqlo and some other shops. Mr DIY is having their new outlet opening so the kids got free balloons and we got a free umbrella with RM 30 spend. We also bought some mini art for the kids to colour at Cameron Highland.

We then bought Starbucks and Auntie Anne for supper and took Uber back to hotel (only cost us RM 5.08)

So happy!

After play for a bit more, kids went to bed and it is some "me" time!

Kidzoona indoor playground at Jusco Bukit Indah, Johor, Malaysia.

We recently brought the kids to Kizoona at Jusco Bukit Indah. I find it very worth it in terms of the price and the facilities are also pretty good.  The place is not big but there is enough things for the kids to spend a few hours there... Includes bouncing castle, some individual shops (flower shop, cafe, supermarket for kids to play around), a big pool of ball, some cars, and a huge rolling ball-like thing where kids can go in and rotate. Fully air conditioned and there is only one entrance to go in and out. Parents can stay inside to accompany your kids at no additional charge. Just remember to bring your own socks otherwise have to purchase before going in. Toilet is not in the playground so there only cons is have to bring the kids out to toilet. Tickets are for a whole day so unlimited entry throughout the day.  Kids can play, go our for lunch and then come back and play again.  If there is two of you looking after the kids , can take turn to go shop

Staycation @ Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Singapore

How often does one step foot in Changi Airport and not catching a flight or picking someone up? For those who are staying in the east of Singapore, some might just go to the airport and enjoy their facilities, had some food, play at the playground or even do some groceries shopping. I think I am a little outdated as I did not even know that Changi Airport has NTUC as well (and their prices are not more expensive that the rest of NTUC). However, for someone like me who stay in the West, I hardly step foot at Changi Airport unless I am flying off someone or picking up someone. For me to take a MRT or drive to Changi Airport is a big commitment as it is not exactly near and there are so many nearby playground and shopping mall that I can enjoy within minutes from my house.  I hardly walk around the airport properly as I am usually rushing to catch a flight. Great for family/ friends bonding- KUKUP 2 day 1 night TRIP

Situated in Pontian District, Johor, Malaysia- KUKUP Fishing Village is a wonderful place for family/friends bonding.  The chalets are build on the sea and there is not much attractions around the area so basically most activities are done in or around the chalet which is great for bonding. There is no place to park the car in front of the chalet as all of the chalets are build on water, so do park your car (if you are driving) at the designated car park before the jetty. We parked at JJ Carpark (RM7 for 24 hours) and the staff send us to the jetty area using his van. We can then walk or take a boat to the chalet.  We decided to walk....and we manage to enjoyed a cooling and refreshing coconut pudding on the way... Winter in Perth 2014 (Day 1 and 2)

First travel blog post on our 2 weeks trip to Perth, Australia in June/July 2014. This is our first solo family trip abroad (2 adults to 2 kids). Chinese New Year Celebration in Dubai

This is our second year residing in Dubai and Chinese New Year is not a public holiday in the UAE. This year we decided to stay in Dubai as there is no school holiday that coincides with the Chinese New Year period. There is a few celebrations going on as there is quite a number of Chinese in UAE. There is lion dance competition at Dubai Park and Resort, lion/dragon dance parade at City Walk and some celebrations at Jumeirah Lake Towers. Many Chinese restaurants offer reunion dinner package (at a premium price of course) and some renowned hotels offer buffets with Chinese new year theme.  One week before the celebration, I started making some Chinese new year cookies/snacks to get into the mood. My favourite is the pineapple tarts to symbolise wealth. I even attempted to make the fillings from scratch but I have to admit it is a lot of work for 36 tarts that I make. Rest 'N' Relax @ Desaru Tunamaya Resort & Spa (3 days 2 nights)

This year for the year end school holiday, after much consideration and pretty last minute, we decided to go for a rest and relax trip at Desaru. We got some credits in our Agoda account so after using up the credits, we pay about RM 100 per night for Desaru Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort (as the Lotus Desaru and Pulai Desire are both fully booked) http://www.desarutunamayaresort.com Packing is only done the night before the trip after we finalise and booked.  The essentials for beach holiday ---  * Swimsuits * Sunblock  * Slippers * Toys for playing sand * Casual T-shirt and Shorts We also brought along the kids scooter which they had fun playing :) After lunch at Mount Austin, we drove to Desaru and reach about 2pm. Travel tips to Perth in Winter

My first travel post will be sharing our family winter trip in Perth.  HOW LONG TO GO: Our trip is 2 weeks long as part of it is hubby's business trip, a trip of 5-7 days will be sufficient. For those planning for a trip this June School Holiday , Perth is actually quite a nice place to go. In contrary to normal believe that weather is bad in Australia in winter, we actually find it quite cooling and not too windy or rainy as long as you avoid Busselton and Margaret River area. Focus your trip to Perth up to Rockingham and anywhere to the north of Perth will have cooling and sunny weather most of the time. Check out the Perth weather forecast   here. Family Trip 2017 @ Cameron Highland, Malaysia (Day 2)

Today we will be on our way to Cameron Highland for a 4 days 3 nights stay.... After a good night sleep, we woke up at 9am and had breakfast in room. Kids ate bread while hubby and me had some instant noodles. We then showered and checked out at 11am.  Meanwhile, my parents and sister's family woke up earlier and started their journey around 7am from Johor.  Toy from a stop at highway, very happy I also bought some toy from Mr DIY yesterday night for the kids to colour during the trip. We drive up to Ipoh for dim sum as our lunch. Restaurant Foh San is very well known and been around for many years. They have renovated since the last time I visited. Winter in MELBOURNE 2016-Day 2

The next morning, everyone wakes up, feeling energised after a good rest. We had breakfast at home and got ready by 10.30am. Drinking water while sitting on his favourite exercise bike. Explore the backyard before leaving, otherwise will be all dark by the time we get back! First stop for today is the Koala Conservatory Centre. It is included in the 3 park passes we purchased yesterday.  Some fun facts of Southern Koalas So where is the koalas kiddo? "There! We spotted one" We spend about 1.5 hours here. There is some fun facts and exhibition at the centre (koalas diet, digestive system, population etc) and a broad walk/park which visitor can walk around, having fun spotting the koalas. A short trip to Oman, Jewel of Arabia (Part 2)

And our adventure began after a good night sleep. Today is our only full day in Muscat so we are gonna make full use of it. We had simple breakfast in our room and set off to the town of Quriyat. Our first stop is the small fishing village of Quriyat. It is a lovely small town and we chance upon a nice breakfast shop selling lovely Omani Bread. It was so good we ordered two extra servings. We paid OR$1.40 for 3 omani bread, tea and some flatbread. Omani Bread Omani cheese and egg bread with an extra crunch from chips A lovely treat for our brekkie  After a satisfying breakfast, we were on our way to the first attraction of the day, Bimah Sinkhole. It is easy to reach with proper road and proper carpark. The sinkhole is located in a park and there are proper staircase leading towards it.
